We had summer weather over the weekend with sunny skies and temperatures into the 70s. They are predicting sun and temps in the 60s for the next three days. It is good weather for the leaf peepers. I took some time on Saturday to sort through some photos and pull out a pile to be scanned. I also worked in my sewing room and put away all the lace I pulled out for the rainbow dress as well as sorting and putting away three bags of previously washed and dried fabric. I finished up indexing the batches of Maine vital records for the week. Sunday was also productive. I went to church, scanned the photos and started retouching them, posted two family blog posts, talked to my Sofie for an hour, and worked on my to do list.

I spent some time retouching old photos last night. No matter what mood I am in, my photos bring a smile to my face. Sometimes I stare into the eyes and wonder what they were thinking, what their life was like, if they are proud of me or at least happy to have me as part of the family. Sometimes you can see the gleam in a child’s eye and know that they would have kept life interesting. I am trying to identify my father in the pile of unlabeled pictures. Someday they will all be identified, labeled, and sorted. Such fun!

I was gone from the house for 7 1/2 hours yesterday for various treatments and doctor’s appointments. It was a long day and I relaxed last night by watching two episodes of Father Knows Best. I really enjoyed them. I wish Netflix would get The Donna Reed Show and put Leave It to Beaver back on streaming too. Very low key, good family shows. Joe and Dvorah attended their first foster parenting meeting last night. I can't wait to hear how it went.

Wednesday was a wonderfully quiet day. I did work quite a bit for WGU, did some laundry and housework, taught seminary, and indexed a batch of names from the Maine Vital statistics. I watched a couple of episodes of Father Knows Best – I am really enjoying these blasts from my past!

Yesterday was a great day. My husband bought me a Zip’eMate personal die cutter for $1 at the local thrift shop. My mother bought me an embossing machine for my birthday a year ago and a friend gave me a Cricut cutting machine for Christmas a couple of years ago. I now have the technology!!! I got a call from MaineCare saying that all of my future medical expenses will be covered 100% by them. My husband brought and cooked me French Bread Pizza for lunch. I lead a very blessed life and I am thankful for it!

I do believe the sun is going to peek over the hill any moment now! You can tell when fall is really here by the arrival of the ladybugs on the windows trying to get inside to winter. I worked for about 8.5 hours yesterday which doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for anything else. I did index two batches of names from the Maine Vital Records, prepare and teach a lesson, and begin to prepare for a meeting that I have on Sunday. I watched one episode of Father Knows Best and dozed through an episode of Murder, She Wrote. All in all, I am OK with that.

Weekends are wonderful! I did work a lot on Saturday but also spent some time in my sewing room organizing things. I spent the night with my Mom and we had a nice visit and watched a little TV- a couple of game shows that I had never heard of before: Lingo and Chain Reaction. Sunday I attended church in Saco and then had two meetings after. I didn’t get home until 5pm (I left at 7am) so I was a bit tired, but very happy.

My husband and I went out to dinner last night at Dan and Michelle Cooper's house. It was so much fun! Soft tacos and blueberry pie and chocolate cake for dessert. We played a little trivia game about General Conference– boys against the girls. The girls won. (no comment) I worked 8 hours for WGU, ran the dishwasher, and we watched an episode of Lie To Me.

Tuesday was my last day of teaching Seminary for a week.I cancelled Wednesday because of my surgery and Thursday too to recover. Emily doesn't have a ride for Friday through Wednesday and then there is no school on Thursday and Friday. Emily will make up these days by doing home study. I worked and worked and finally finished a calibration project for WGU that I have been doing. Hooray! We watched an episode of The Mentalist and then I mostly just did nothing. Oh, I did clean the pink bathroom! I am off for surgery this morning, and if all goes well I will be home by late afternoon.
